The food is worth every minute of waiting, that i can tell you, the quality was like in a star restaurant.Service was excellent and one of the guys speaks fluid portuguese, english, french and german. The ambiente fits perfekt to the castle, extraordinary.Best thing of the evening:The selfmade herbal liquor (yellow one), this alone was worth the visit.

A delicious dinner at the historic monument, what used to be the jail of estremoz in the 17th century. Situated near the castle, it has a rooftop bar on the 3rd floor with panoramic view of the town. Highly recommend its roasted lamb which after hours of preparation melt in your melt. Tasty, cooked perfectly. The golden codfish, mixed with potatoes is another must try dish. Julia was friendly and professional, helping us chose the right bottle to pair with the dishes. Chef Alice checked on us to make sure we are enjoying the food. The team truly cares about the customers’ experience. Thank you for a memorable night of indulgence.

Steak with great flavor. Sheep stew is also great. The olives have a different flavor, at our liking. The food got a bit delayed, and to compensate, they serve us some cheese. The desert Pudim de água, that we had ever tasted, is very tasty. The rooftop were we had coffee, have a great 360 view. And the owner and all the people there were very nice and helpful. We had a great lunch. Thank you all.

Wonderful food in a unique location. This was our first visit to A Cadeia but it certainly won’t be our last! As vegetarians, my husband and I sometimes struggle to find tasty food when we eat out. Not so at A Cadeia. Julia was able to recommend dishes for us that were so tasty and each course was a delight. (Remember to leave room for dessert!!) The service was attentive without being intrusive. Inside the restaurant is tastefully decorated whilst still retaining some original features. It’s definitely worth a visit when you’re in Estremoz. We can highly recommend it and will definitely be paying this absolute gem of a restaurant another visit.

We just visited the bar. Sadly, dogs aren’t allowed on the roof terrace (maybe something to rethink if they behave better than their owners) but I took a glimpse and it was worth it.The bar is lovely inside and offers a great range of international and local drinks. Miroslav was a caring host and gave us all the attention we needed; not easy when you have someone who is truly fussy about this drinks ;)If you are looking for a cool drink in Estremoz - look no further and say ‘hi’ to Miro

The restaurant is located in peculiar location (an old jail ) and there is a chill out in the terrace ( you can order cocktails from the chill out to take during the dinner ) . The food is quite good as well as the service. The unique point to improve os to have more workers in the kitchen to be a bit faster

The real taste of Portuguese food is what you will find in this restaurant. The food is all from the Alentejo region, the Chef behind the kitchen is one of the best I ever found. The restaurant is an old jail that was restaured, great decor. The food is the star of the show, but the extensive wine selection is something to brag about. For me one of the best restaurant in Estremoz, Portugal.
